GAULLE Charles de. Autograph notes for L'Unité, [1956]; 3 1/2 pages small in-4 on General de Gaulle's letterhead. Corrections for the second volume of Mémoires de guerre (L'Unité will be published in June 1956). Two sets of corrections, with cross-references to the proof pages. The first list contains 9 brief corrections: "166 put: the Kouang-Si coast instead of: the Yunnan coast [...] 215 the construction symbolising the new start, instead of: symbolic of the"; the last is longer: "269 the communists were elected 160, the socialists 142, the resistance fighters of the Democratic Union 30, the popular republicans 152, the radicals 29, the moderates 66" (the figures have been corrected). The second list gives four more developed corrections; for example, concerning purging: "Page 115 If they had not served the enemy directly and passionately, I commuted their sentence, as a matter of principle. If they had, I did not feel entitled to pardon"... Attached is an autograph note (on an in-8 leaflet "from Bourbon-Busset"): "my illustrated brochures (which I have kept) on "Présence de la France". - Acknowledge receipt". Also enclosed are three additional sets of corrections (4 1/2 in-8 pages on his letterhead).
