Uncommon and sought-after first edition. Announced as early as 1836 in Renduel's catalogues, Le Capitaine Fracasse was not to be published until 1863 by Charpentier after 25 years of work by the author. There was no large paper edition. From the Émile Henriot library (according to a note in graphite, title absent from the 5 catalogues, but many of his books have not been described). A fine copy. In volume II section 23 has been placed before section 22. Vicaire, III, 926; Clouzot, p. 129: "highly sought after", especially in contemporary binding.
