With woodcut book decoration, a folded engraved map. Copper engraved map and 2 full-page copper plates. Halle, Schneider, 1749. 232 pp. Folio. HLdr. d. Zt. with red RSchild and gold-stamped. R title (somewhat rubbed).
Extremely rare, no copy in international trade traceable to us, second edition expanded by Johann Christoph von Dreyhaupt (EA 1670). - Friedrich Hondorff first wrote a description of Halle's salt works in 1670 in his role as Count of Salt. The work includes a description of the salt springs and salt production as well as an account of the ownership structure, the various offices and professions in the salt works and legal regulations. Income statements, lists of officials and an extensive appendix complete the account. It contains documents relating to the salt springs. Johann Christoph von Dreyhaupt (1699-1768), a lawyer and historian, decided 78 years after the publication of the book to add Hohndorff's remarks "due to their rarity" in an updated and expanded form to the second volume of his work Beschreibung des Saalkreises (1749/50). - Only rarely minimally browned or stained. A good copy.
