Paul Bourquin, Besancon 1995 - With accompanying text and seven poems by Hugo Caral. - The characteristic geometric compositions contained in Aurélie Nemours' outstanding portfolio convey in their reduced consistency the expression of a constructivist clarity based on tension and harmony that the artist was striving for. Rectangles, lines, squares and two-dimensional cross structures determine the composition of the picture and follow a kind of inner order based on balance and rhythm. Nemours arranges the elements in such a way that there is always a visual balance between surface and line, density and emptiness, statics and movement. Formally, Nemours' portfolio work goes back to her roots in the abstract tradition of DeStijl, paired with her poetic-aesthetic orientation. The strict symmetry is modulated by finely tuned variations in form and colour depth, creating a subtle visual tension between order and lightness. Each serigraph on wove paper.
