Jesús Rafael Soto
Hanover. 1968. Kinetic object. Colour silkscreen on Plexiglas, coloured metal rods, attached to nylon threads over metal beams. Approx. 16.2 x 48.6 x 12 cm. Signed (scratched) on the underside of the serigraphed plastic element. - Slightly dusty, tiny colour flaking in places, very pale and barely visible stain in places, pale trace of colour in upper right, plexiglass minimally rubbed in places, especially standing surfaces, very good overall. Quite an excellent copy with a charming kinetic effect.
One of 200 copies. - Published by Edition Kestner-Gesellschaft, Hanover. - Soto's artistic oeuvre is characterised by the search for visual dynamics and three-dimensional effects. He uses the line as a structural element, lining them up or overlapping them. Working primarily in blue, black and white, he creates lines and areas of colour with a visual legibility that suggest movement and vibration, particularly in his objects, and leave a hypnotic, shimmering impression.
