George SAND (1804-1876). Autograph manuscript, [circa 1860 ?] 1 page in-8. Outline for a pantomime on the Nohant theatre, inspired by the commedia dell'arte.
"Cassandra has two valets, Arlequin and Pierrot, who both love her daughter Colombine. Colombine loves Arlequin out of love, Pierrot out of friendship, as she tells him. He is sorry, but loves Harlequin and Colombine just the same. He also loves his white pigeon. Polichinelle shows up to marry Columbine and her dowry, but Harlequin and Pierrot gang up against him"... Etc.
And she concludes: "Transport these masks to real, modern life. That's all it takes to make a touching and cheerful play".
Attached is a bust photograph by Nadar (in-8 format), and 4 other small photographs, 3 by Nadar (business card format), and one for Figaro-Album after Bertall.
