Original title Colour aquatint etching/velin by BFK Rives (without watermark), c. 1950. signed and numbered 62/200. printed by Aldo Crommelynck (in the plate with the typographical printer's mark), Paris; published by Maeght Éditeur, Paris. Wvz. Maeght 1020. Birds are one of Braque's main subjects, which have pervaded his works since 1949 in particular, not only as an accessory, but also often as the main motif that gives the work its title. Birds had their own individual magic for Braque, because for him they were also metaphors or embodiments of eternal change and the transcendence of space. Panel dimensions approx. 26 cm x 49.2 cm.
