Expertise by the renowned expert on Jewish painters, Dr Arno Parik, enclosed. Dr Arno Parik, remarked: “The painting is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the early period. The perspective view shows a valley with a river and a town at the foot of the mountains. It is probably a landscape in the south-western part of France, or in Alsace (characterised in some areas by red soil). The composition is built consistently on individual planes parallel to the pictorial one, which was already characteristic of Kars's earlier paintings. The early dating to the period between 1910–1914 is supported, in addition to the pure colour tones and relaxed painting, by the composition of the view in spatial gradations parallel to the pictorial plane, as was already Kars's custom in the earlier Impressionist period. Finally, this dating is also supported by Kars's signature in the lower right, executed in a carefully delicate line that no longer appears in paintings of the post-war period.“
