Lot no. 244
Georges-Louis Leclerc comte de BUFFON (1707-1788). Speech delivered at the French Academy by M. de Buffon on Saturday 25 August 1753 (S.l., 1753). In-12 of 29 p. and 1 blank f., bound, untrimmed. Extremely rare first edition of this famous speech on style, which Buffon had printed in a few copies for private use (and which was subsequently republished, together with Moncrif's speech, on 25 August 1753, in-4, 21 p.).
We know the copy in the BnF (Z.28258), and the one in the library of the comte de Lignerolles, with a consignment to Loppin de Gémeaux.
The latter is bound, untrimmed, as issued.
