Lot no. 10
Georges REMI, known as HERGÉ (1907-1983) LES AVENTURES DE TINTIN REPORTER DU PETIT VINGTIÈME EN AMÉRIQUE 2nd plate P3, 1932, Les éditions du Petit Vingtième, red cloth back, 6th mile Les éditions du Petit Vingtième writes small, and the inverted commas are at the top. 123 pages without pagination. 5,400 copies printed by Casterman in Tournai. Published on 13 November 1932. The albums were sold for 20 FB. Of the ten thousand copies, only 5,400 were printed and bound, which confirms the practice of not printing all the instalments for each thousand (as for Soviet and Congo). Moreover, the ease with which Abbé Wallez agreed to "let go" of publishing the Tintin albums in favour of Casterman is a further sign that sales were not as high as announced in the official figures. A large number (at least 1,780) of the unsold albums were subsequently taken back by Casterman under different covers. This album is in mint condition. Perfect red cloth spine, impeccable boards, unread sections, exceptional album. Hergé/Tintinimaginatio 2024
