The publication of this third album published by Abbé Wallez and Les éditions du Petit Vingtième followed Tintin au Pays des Soviets by just over nine months and Quick & Flupke gamins de Bruxelles by six months. Tintin in the Congo is even rarer than Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, which was a relative success, 2,600 copies having been ordered even before the album's release. Today it is certain that the 10,000 copies of Tintin in the Congo (like the 10,000 copies of Tintin in the Land of the Soviets or Tintin in America) were not printed in full for every 1,000 copies. In fact, we know that Éditions Petit Vingtième printed no more than 5,400 copies of Tintin in America and that the print runs of Tintin in the Land of the Soviets and Tintin in the Congo were even smaller, Tintin in the Congo being by far the smallest of the three. It is important to note that the quality of the albums, in terms of the printing of the image on the front cover, the paper and the spines, means that it is very rare to find Petit Vingtième first editions with little or no restoration, and that the album presented here is 93 years old. This album is in mint condition, and is the newest Tintin au Congo album known, whether numbered or not. Note the green percaline spine in exceptional condition, as if it had just come from the bookbinder. The white boards are flawless, the inside sections new and uniform...
