Georges Assani, whose real name is Selemani Alimasi Bin Assani, was born in 1999 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His talent was revealed at the age of 3 when he painted a portrait of his mother on wet clay. From 2012 to 2016, he attended the Lubumbashi School of Fine Arts. In 2015, he took part in a painting competition organised by the Laurent Moones Foundation, where he won first prize for best painter. Honoured by the Lubumbashi Fine Arts Department in 2022 as an emblematic figure of modern painting for his achievements, Georges Assani is a young prodigy who is making a name for himself in the copper capital. Now in his twenties, one of his paintings will feature at the Palais du Peuple in Kinshasa, a major victory and consecration. This work was acquired by the Palais du Peuple's art department on behalf of the Congolese government. In 2024, two of his works will be exhibited at the inauguration of the Centre culturel et artistique d'Afrique centrale.
