Georges VAN DE VOORDE (1878-1964). Bust of August Vermeylen (1872-1945), Flemish politician and art historian. A prolific writer, he was a professor of art history and Dutch literature. He was also the father of Minister of State Piet Vermeylen. Plaster sculpture circa 1916. This was illustrated in the newspaper Ons Land on 16 February 1924. A bronze version is/was in the Antwerp Museum (see photo of family archive). Height: 57 cm. Provenance: Artist's studio. Collection of the Vandevoorde family since the mid-1960s (the spelling of the surname has no space in the civil records). We enclose a certificate of authenticity and provenance signed by Mr and Mrs Vandevoorde, the artist's grandchildren.
