Georges VAN DE VOORDE (1878-1964). Pair of male subjects, a study for the National Monument erected in Schaerbeek in memory of the Patriots shot by the enemy during the wars 1914-1918 and 1940-1945, for which the artist is responsible. These are the two sculptures on either side of the central group. They were featured in an illustration in La Dernière Heure on 13 October 1950. Sculptures in plaster. Height: 24.5 cm and 25 cm. Provenance: Artist's studio. Collection of the Vandevoorde family since the mid-1960s (the spelling of the surname has no space in the civil register). We enclose a certificate of authenticity and provenance signed by Mr and Mrs Vandevoorde, the artist's grandchildren.
