Contract with the publisher Charpentier for the publication of Voyage en Orient. This is the copy of Nerval, "a man of letters, domiciled in Paris, rue St Thomas du Louvre N° 4 [...] author of a work on Egypt, Syria & Turkey, of which several chapters with different titles were printed in the Revue des deux mondes & others in the National under the title Nuits du Ramazan. A large part of this work was also published [...] under the title Scènes de la vie orientale. [...] Today Mr Gérard Labrunie de Nerval has offered Mr Charpentier the exclusive right to print this work in the future under the new and more appropriate title of : Voyage en Orient par Gérard de Nerval'... In the Sole Article of this agreement, the conditions are laid down: Charpentier acquires the right to publish, print and sell the book, in return for 60 centimes paid to the author for each copy... Charpentier will print each edition in the number he wishes, the 1st being 1500 copies, for the sum of 900 fr.
