The only second part (of four) of this imposing edition of the theological works of Jean Gerson, chancellor of the University of Paris from 1395 to 1415. Gothic two-column printing by Johann Knobloch in Strasbourg. The title is adorned with a handsome wood-engraved frame by Hans Baldung Grien, decorated with vine arbours animated by cherubs, monkeys and birds. A full-page portrait of the author as a pilgrim attributed to Albrecht Dürer is printed on the back of the folio. A copy with initials painted in red and blue throughout the text in a fine contemporary binding in cold-stamped calf. Ex-libris Francisci Fonghasse Maliatensis and table of contents handwritten on one flyleaf; painted coat of arms in engraved title frame (partially engraved).
