Antonius bitt für uns (As I have loved you, so you must love one another; St. Anthony pray for us) ESTIMATE °€ 100 - € 200 STARTING PRICE € 100 At the age of eight, Gertraud Brausewetter, daughter of the head of the construction company Pittel+Brausewetter, entered Franz Čižek's youth class at the arts and crafts school in Vienna. In 1914 she created four large tempera works for the church of St Othmar in Mödling, where her master builder father built the porch. After the First World War, Gertraud Brausewetter studied from 1919 to 1921 in the modern art department at the School of Applied Arts under her former teacher Čižek. She showed great interest in theosophy and anthroposophy. The painter went on numerous trips with her father to Italy, Germany and Egypt. In 1929 she married Paul Reinberger. Two years later, the Albertina bought 58 of the artist's woodcuts for the graphic collection. After Čižek's death in 1946, Reinberger-Brausewetter took over the management of the youth art class at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna until 1948. The artist was, among other things, a member of the Association of Female Artists in Austria and the Society for Christian Art in Vienna.
