GERVAIS (André-Charles). Puppets and puppeteers of France. Paris, Bordas, 1947. In-4, 183 p., XCII p., [1] f. Bound in red half-basin with corners (very damaged). Edition of 2020 copies. One of XX deluxe copies on BFK de Rives vellum. The copy contains 10 handwritten messages of encouragement signed by puppeteers and the publisher. This copy belonged to Francis Raphard, a puppeteer who had inherited his father's castelet in the Tuileries gardens. Francis Raphard, a great collector and practitioner, contributed to the book by lending photos, among other things. The book contains a few truffles, a long letter from the publisher at Bordas, an original photo montage used as an illustration in the book, newspaper cuttings, etc. The binding is very damaged.
