From 1922 he studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts under the painter István Csók. In 1926 he received the certificate as a drawing teacher. In 1925, while he was still studying, the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts bought a painting from him. After completing his studies, he briefly worked as a teaching assistant to István Csók at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. He also went on study trips to France, Italy and Switzerland. Borsos mainly painted portraits and nudes, but also figurative compositions. Warm, bright colours dominate his paintings. He made a name for himself early on through his carefully balanced and elaborate nude compositions, still lifes, landscapes and portraits. In 1927, he first participated in a group show, and in 1928 he had his first solo exhibition in which he showed a hundred pencil drawings, pastel drawings, and watercolours. At this time, the influence of József Rippl-Rónai was noticeable in his painting. In 1928, the city of Budapest purchased a still life by Borsos at the exhibition of the Merse Pál Society of Szinyei. At the International Art Exhibition in 1929, the capital again bought one of his works. In 1930, Borsos exhibited together with Rudolf Négely in the exhibition of the Society of Free Artists and was presented there as "a young artist who promises the most beautiful development". In 1933, he took part with his paintings in the jury of the Merse-Pál Society of Szinyei in the National Salon, and in 1934 in an exhibition in the exhibition hall of the Buda Fine Arts Society. In addition to painting, Borsos was active in sculpture and achieved significant success with his works as a sculptor.
