GIARDINI Giovanni. Promptuarium artis argentariae ex quo Centum exquisitio studio inventis... Pars prima. - ... Pars altera. Rome, Faustus Amideus, 1750. Two parts in one vol. in-folio (372 x 251 mm), half vellum with corners, paper speckled with green and sanguine (Italian binding of the time). Second edition of the Disegni diversi, the most famous collection of Baroque Italian goldsmiths by Giovanni Giardini, papal goldsmith. It contains 2 printed titles and 100 engraved plates of religious and secular silverware. "The leading goldsmith of the late baroque era (...), an exceptionally interesting figure" (A. Gonzalez-Palacios, Burlington Magazine, 1995). He exerted a considerable influence on artists and craftsmen throughout most of the eighteenth century. A very fine copy in a very fine edition and contemporary binding. The plates are numbered partly in copper and partly by hand. Ex-libris of Giuseppe Ant. Bersan.
