Giovanni Battista Giovannini was Cardinal Benedetto Pamphilj's 'house' painter from 1673. The Palazzo al Corso, in fact, houses several of his landscape works, once referred to the hand of Gaspard Dughet. It is thanks to the studies of Andrea G. De Marchi that the rediscovery of the painter was made, which, thanks to the Pamphilj inventories, reveals a personality capable of carrying out various tasks, from wall and easel decoration to still life and landscape painting, as well as decorating carriages and providing restoration work. The artist was a follower of Dughet, creating Arcadian views imbued with a more relaxed and less heroic poetics, with inserts of everyday and pastoral life.
