Small statuette with allegory of Prudentia (Prudence)
Bronze, gilded on the front. Ebonised wooden base. Almost fully sculpted, finely detailed and chiselled depiction of Prudentia in a floor-length dress, holding her attributes snake and mirror in her hands. Campagna went to Venice in 1572, where he became the leading sculptor of his time and maintained a large workshop for important commissions and also casts in bronze. His circle of friends included poets and artists such as Pietro Aretino, Torquato Tasso, Titian and Vasari. Bronze h. 11 cm; total h. 15 cm.
