GNATHIAN BLACK-GLAZED RIBBED OINOCHOE.
Ca. 325 - 275 BC
A black-glazed terracotta oinochoe with a trefoil mouth and a tall strap handle rising from the shoulder to the rim. The neck is narrow and lightly flaring above a broad ovoid body formed with dense vertical ribs, set on a low disc foot. Two fine horizontal bands encircle the neck, the upper formed of added ochre dots, the lower plain and terminating at the front in a pendant drop.

Private London collection; previously acquired on the Belgian art market; originally in the collection of S Vanhoutte, Brussels 1990’s.
