Letters from other persons and other documents relating to the Weimar court theatre from the estate of Goethe's friend State Chancellor Friedrich von Müller (1779-1849). 35 inscr. vols. Various. Goethe was director of the Weimar court theatre from 1791-1817, also confidant of Duke Carl August and minister in the Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach government. He had a close friendship with the State Chancellor Friedrich von Müller. - Contains: Copy of a letter from Goethe to Duke Carl August of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Carlsbad, Aug. 1785. 2 pp. on 1 sheet. (loosely enclosed, with tear). - "I, too, have had many sufferings and joys from The Sorrows of Young Werther ... had." - Letter with eh. Signed by Georg Lebrecht von Luck (1757-1814, Weimar chamberlain) and Franz Kirms (1750-1826, court councillor, ran the Weimar theatre together with Goethe).
