Gold pocket watch No. 12.779 with minute repetition and perpetual calendar, lunar phase and age. Movement finished in about 1877 for E. Whitel, London, case later, about 1882. Five-body, polished, stepped “Louis-XV” 18ct gold case with slide at side to activate strike-work, five-piece covered outer hinges. Audemars and Brassus punches inside case. Dome signed: “No. 12.779 Made to special order by Louis Audemars BRASSUS for E. Whitel LONDON 1882”. Diameter 61 mm, 293 grams. Enamel dial with Roman hour numerals and Arabic minute ring, four subsidiary dials - date at 3 o’clock, small second with lunar phase and age at 6 o’clock, days at 9 o’clock and months with leap years at 12 o’clock. Gold hands and blued steel spade hands. Gilded lever movement with 4/5 platen for the English market, jewelled with crimson rubies in screwed gold bezels, floral decorated balance bridge, blued screws, compensation balance with gold screws with blued Bréguet balance-spring and pointed tooth escapement, mirror polished and bevelled steel levers. Movement plate signed: “E. Whitel LONDON No. 12.779, 20 Cockspur Street, BRASSUS”. Rare Louis Audemars punch and movement serial No. 12.779 on dial plate. Strike-work with two hammers on two gongs.
