GOMBOUST (Jacques). Rothomagus - Rouen, 1655, facsimile reprint published by the Société rouennaise de bibliophiles with La Description des antiquitez et singularitez de la ville de Rouen, text and plates by Jules ADELINE. Rouen, Espérance Cagniard, 1873-75. In full (62.5 x 50 cm), green half-chagrin with corners, spine ribbed with mute, cold filets on covers, title page on front cover, covers preserved (period binding). Facsimile of the plan of Rouen drawn up by Jacques Gombust, ingénieur ordinaire du Roi, in 1655: 6 plates engraved by ADELINE and printed by Delatre, mounted on canvas (122 x 102.5 cm). The plan is framed by 18 vignettes (views of Rouen, the city's main buildings and surrounding castles) and the arms of Rouen's town councillors. Without the separate text. An engraved title leaf from the work Rouen au XVIIe siècle by J. ADELINE and a leaf with one of the 6 engraved plates of the plan are included. A few minor imperfections but otherwise a fine copy. Very rare, only 60 copies placed on the market according to a handwritten note on the flyleaf.
