First exhibitions in 1968 in Linz and Vienna, from 1969 in the Welz Gallery in Salzburg. In 1971 he finally moved to Paris. Salzmann's art is informed by 19th century veduta painting; he has developed his own technique of painting on photos called "Photeauforte". Extensive collections of works in the Salzburg Museum and the Albertina in Vienna.
