GRAECO-ROMAN TERRACOTTA COMIC ACTOR MASK. Ca. 100 BC - AD 200. A terracotta theatre mask modelled in high relief with exaggerated facial features including large and deep-set eyes, a broad nose, prominent nasolabial folds, and a wide, asymmetrical mouth. The hair is rendered in wavy locks arranged across the forehead and temples. The mask is hollow on the underside. The piece is mounted on a custom stand. Size: 115mm x 110mm; Weight: 455g Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the Belgian art market, 1990s.
