A large Japanese lacquer and ormolu case, decorated with landscapes and birds in poly-lobed reserves and aventurine surrounds, with ormolu frames (brought back at a later date) 17th century. A suite of six boxes of different sizes and decoration is now in the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen (Impey and Jörg, op. cit., pp. 149 and 319). Another box in the Groninger Museum in Groningen (Netherlands), signed "Kisibei", has similar decoration and, in particular, similar reserves (Impey and Jörg, op. cit., p. 153).
