A LARGE PORCELAIN JUG, BERLIN, MID-19TH CENTURY
36 CM - 14,2 IN.
According to an undated note by Newstead Garnett, copied by J.H. Illingworth & Sons in November 1963, and a newspaper article dated 5.11.1963, this jug was delivered by the Berlin factory to Kaiser Wilhelm I, who gave it as a gift at a charity sale, where it was bought by his aunt Martha, then living in Berlin, who presented it at Newstead Garnett's wedding on 14 September 1887.
