Large Caravelle table centrepiece, thick slab of moulded-pressed white and satin-finish glass, rounded shape, hollow-moulded decoration of a large ship with sails spread, signed R Lalique France, model created in 1930 and not revived after 1947, set in a truncated cone-shaped nickel-plated metal base. The motif of the nave appears in relief and demonstrates the technical prowess of its creation, total length with base 72 cmIn: MARCILHAC, p. 486, n°1169A variant of this model featuring seagulls around the ship was created in 1938 for the official visit of the King of England to Paris in July. The City of Paris wanted to offer it as an official gift. Lalique referenced the seagull as the "Surtout de table lumineux des Souverains anglais".
