GRAND CARTEL D'APPLIQUE CLOCK MARQUETERIE BOULLE AND GILT BRONZES, FRANCE CIRCA 1870 Imposing applique clock, decorated in marqueterie à la Boulle. Ruled by feet still in full Mannerist taste, the large case of our clock rises imposingly and elegantly up to the cap surmounted by a sculpture of a trumpeter. Precious gilt bronze details enrich the uprights and pediment, centred by a minerva; bronze squares adorned with a medallion and decorations typical of the Louis XIV taste, large black cartouches for the hours, burnished steel hands, movement with hour and half-hour chime on a bell with a part-wheel system, anchor escapement with metal suspension.
