GRAZIANI (Antonio Maria). History of the war in Cyprus. Paris, André Pralard, 1685. In-4, brown basane, coats of arms in the centre of the boards, spine decorated, mottled edges (Binding of the period). One of the best accounts of the Ottoman conquest of Cyprus.
First French edition, translated from Latin by Louis-Antoine Le Peletier and decorated with a frontispiece engraved by Charles Simonneau (which includes a map of the island), a title vignette and five headpieces.
A copy bearing the arms of the Collège des Grassins, on the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, founded in 1569 thanks to a bequest from Pierre Grassin for poor schoolchildren in the diocese of Sens.
A fairly good portrait of Napoleon the Emperor was painted in brown ink on a flyleaf in the early 19th century.
