ANCIENT GREECE - GREEK Macedonia (kingdom of), Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). Tetradrachm in the name of Alexander III ND (323-315 BC), Pella. Av. Head on right of Heracles with the remains of the Nemean lion. Rv. AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡOΥ. Zeus aetophorus seated left on a throne and holding a sceptre in his left hand and an eagle in his right. Price 217; Silver - 17.19 g - 27 mm - 5 h With signed typed certificate from Émile Bourgey describing the coin. NGC Ch XF 4/5 3/5 lt graffito (8237653-015). Without symbol, this tetradrachm is slightly later than the death of Alexander. Barely trefoiled strike on reverse. Fine scratch on the right. Grey patina with bluish highlights. A superb piece.
