ANCIENT GREECE - GREEK Macedonia (kingdom of), Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). Posthumous drachma ND (323-319 BC), Sardis. Av. Head on right of Heracles with the remains of the Nemean lion. Rv. AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡOΥ. Zeus aetophorus seated left on throne and holding sceptre in left hand and eagle in right; in front, bee and TI. Price 2626; Silver - 4.25 g - 20 mm - 12 h NGC Ch AU 5/5 3/5 brushed (6142352-002). Struck under Menander, satrap of Lydia between 331 and 321 BC, in Sardis in the years following the death of Alexander. High relief with a grey patina. Superb.
