ANCIENT GREECE - GREEK Macedonia (kingdom of), Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). Gold statère ND (328-323 BC), Lampsach. Head of Athena right, wearing a Corinthian helmet with aigrette decorated with a snake, her hair falling in wisps on the nape of her neck. Rv. AΛEΞANΔPOY. Draped Niké, standing left, holding stylis and crown; before her the different with two protomes of horses leaning and monogram under wing. Price 1358 - SNG Cop.630 ; Gold - 8,58 g - 17,5 mm - 5 h NGC Ch XF 4/5 4/5 (8237653-002). The strike is slightly off-centre to the right. Slight soiling in the relief. Beautiful golden patina. Superb condition.
