ANCIENT GREECE - GREEK Pontus (kingdom of), Mithridates VI Eupator (120-63). Gold statere in the name of Lysimachus ND (88-86 BC), Callatis. Av. Diademed head to right of the divine Alexander-Amon, with horn. Rv. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΛΥΣΙΜΑXΟΥ. Athena seated left, leaning on shield and holding victory with wreath; letters under arm (Cw); KAΛ under throne; decorated trident in exergue. Müller 263 - Callataÿ group 2B ; Gold - 8,29 g - 19 mm - 12 h NGC MS 4/5 4/5 (6141460-001). Slightly weak strike to the right, immobilized style for this last posthumous issue of Alexander/Lysimachus, struck during the First Mithridate War. Very detailed reverse and beautiful golden patina. Superb at Fleur de coin.
