ANCIENT GREECE - GREEK Sicily, Syracuse, Gelon (484-478 BC). Tetradrachm ND (485-479 BC), Syracuse. Av. Quadriga at pace right, led by a helmeted charioteer, surmounted by a Niké flying right with a crown. Rv. ΣV[R]-ΑΚ-Ο-ΣΙO-Ν. Head of Arethusa on the right, her hair held by a taenia, wearing a collar and beaded neck, surrounded by four dolphins. Boehringer 321 - HGC 2, 1307; Silver - 17.17 g - 24.2 mm - 6 h From C. Silberstein, with its label. UCS: coming soon. On a slightly oblong blank, with the strike centred on the right and barely off-centre on the reverse. Nice collector's grey patina with bluish highlights. Very nice.
