GREEK BLACK-GLAZED GUTTUS WITH GORGONEION
Ca. 300 BC. A classic blackware guttus form with a rounded, ribbed body, a single loop handle, and a high spout with a funnel mouth, all on a raised, tiered spool foot. The tondo is decorated in a low-relief scene depicting the head of a Gorgon. The vessel is covered in a jet-black glaze, and scattered areas of faint iridescence complement the lustrous colour, the base is reserved.
