GREEK CARNELIAN AND GOLD NECKLACE Ca. 1st millennium BC. A necklace composed of striated agate and carnelian beads, alternating with pearl and gold beads, creates a colour balance that was extremely fashionable in antiquity, where red was often combined with pearls.
