GREEK EGYPTIAN QUARTZITE FEMALE HEAD Ca. 400 - 200 BC. A carved quartzite head of a female, with a rounded face, prominent cheekbones, and a slightly parted mouth. The eyes are almond-shaped with defined lids, and the hair is arranged in tight, wavy strands drawn back from the forehead. Size: 73mm x 51mm; Weight: 254.4g Provenance: Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Christie's, 25 Apr 2007, lot 47; sold to benefit The Hans Goedicke Foundation for Egyptology; acquired in Egypt between 1956-1958.
