GREEK ROCK CRYSTAL, GREEN BERYL AND FAIENCE BEADS NECKLACE Ca. 1st millennium BC. A necklace composed of large rock crystal beads in tear shape alternating with green stone beads creates a colour balance that was extremely fashionable in antiquity. Green was often combined with the rock crystal. The beads feature geometric shapes such as tubular, diamond-shaped, circular, and elongated. The necklace is secured at the back with a hook-and-hoop mechanism. Size: 200/400mm x 15mm; Weight: 32g. Provenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s. This piece is accompanied by an authentication statement by Sami Fortune, ancient jewellery specialist.
