GREEK TERRACOTTA MODEL OF POMEGRANATE Ca. 500 - 300 BC A pottery model of a pomegranate. It is naturalistically modelled with a characteristically rounded bulbous shape. The exterior features a textured skin, while the crown at the top is intricately detailed with small projections. Symbolically, the pomegranate is associated with Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, representing fertility and the cycle of life and death in ancient mythology.
