GRELOT (Guillaume-Joseph). A late Voyage to Constantinople: containing an exact description of the Propontis and Hellespont, with the Dardenels, and what else is remarkable in those Seas, as also of the City of Constantinople, wherein is particularly describ'd the Grand Seraglio and chief Mosquees. London, John Playford for Henry Bonwicke, 1683. In-8, spotted calf, double fillet and cold corner fleurons, spine ribbed, spotted edges (English binding of the period). First English edition, translated by John Phillips, of the Relation nouvelle d'un voyage de Constantinople published in Paris in 1680.
It is illustrated with a portrait of Sultan Mehmed IV engraved by J. Sturt and 14 plates engraved by F. H. van Hove, including 8 folding hors-texte plates and 6 figures in the text.
One cap damaged, small worm work in the back of the volume, angular lack on pp. 71-72 and on the first white endpaper.
