Large lidded vase with Chinoiserie faience, light paste blue glaze. Octagonal baluster shape with a short neck, the bell-shaped lid with a spherical knob. Rich, almost all-over decoration in cobalt blue and black (or dark manganese violet). Revolving, multi-figure, scenic decoration with Chinese in a landscape, Chinese-style hanging ornaments to the foot and shoulder. Unmarked; marked "5" to the lid. H. 50.5 cm. Provenance: Dissolution of an important German private collection - part II. A large Frankfurt or Dutch Delft blue and white faience chinoiserie vase and cover. Light blue glaze. Slightly restored. Marked "5" inside of the cover. Frankfurt am Main or Delft. Circa 1680-1720.
