Large lidded vase with Chinoiserie faience. Octagonal baluster shape with a short neck, the bell-shaped lid with a spherical knob. Rich, almost all-over decoration in cobalt blue and black (or dark manganese violet). Circumferential, multi-figure, scenic decoration with Chinese in a landscape, to the foot and shoulder as well as Chinese-style hanging ornaments on the lid. Marked "5" on the lid. H. 50.5 cm. Provenance: Dissolution of an important German private collection - part II. A large Frankfurt or Dutch Delft blue and white faience chinoiserie vase and cover. Marked "5" inside the lid. Frankfurt am Main or Delft. Circa 1680-1720.
