Large Meissen offering plate with shopping trip and landscape scenes
Quadripartite, slightly recessed form. In the centre, a reserve richly framed by gold tendrils and Böttger chandeliers as well as foliage and scrollwork, with an expansive, architectural harbour view with merchants, workers and riders on horseback. On the banner, wide, alternating cartouche fields with merchant scenes, sailing boats and mountain scenery in the background. Scattered ombré butterflies and insects in the manner of Johann Gottfried Klinger. Fine polychrome painting with gold staffage. Remainder; minimally worn; crossed swords mark. 39 cm x 30 cm x 4.5 cm.
