Large Meissen baluster vase with Indian floral decoration in the Famille Verte style Stretched ovoid, slightly domed body above the round stand with a strongly recessed shoulder and short cylindrical neck. Domed slip lid. Powder blue background with stylised flower and vine decoration all around the wall. Inside, four white, four-pass reserves with colourful Indian decoration of ascending peony and chrysanthemum branches with exotic birds and the depiction of a body of water with lotus flowers, other sea plants, a swimming duck and a bird flying above. Corresponding decoration on the lid. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Model no. 51119, crossed swords mark. H. 37,5 cm. A similar lidded vase with comparable decoration and blue ground, modelled on a Chinese vase from Jingdezhen around 1700 to 1720, was made around 1730 with the "Augustus Rex" mark for the royal collection of Augustus the Strong in the Japanese Palace.
