Large Meissen Art Nouveau animal group "Fighting ibexes" On a round, moulded base, a dynamic group of two ibexes fighting in naturalistic execution. Polychrome underglaze painting in grey-brown and olive-green tones. Designed by Otto Pilz, 1913, model no. B 297, marked; rest; crossed swords mark. H. 41 cm. Otto Pilz (1876 - 1934) created numerous models for the Meissen manufactory as a freelance sculptor from 1905, including a series of naturalistic animal figures, some of which are extremely spirited and full of movement, which are among the best achievements of modern Art Nouveau porcelain sculpture.
