Large Meissen plate with the coat of arms of the Imperial Count von Sulkowski
Round, moulded, moulded form "Alter Ausschnitt" with braided relief decoration so-called "Sulkowski-Ozier". In the recessed mirror the crowned alliance coat of arms of Imperial Count Alexander Joseph Sulkowski and his wife Marie Anna Franziska von Stain zu Jettingen, held by two upright lions, surrounded by iron-red and sea-green rice straw bundles and scattered flowers in cacique style. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Indistinct impressed numeral. Mould mark for Johann Martin Kittel. Ger. Stress cracks. Centreboard mark. D. 34.5 cm.
Alexander Joseph Sulkowski came from an old Polish noble family. He married Marie Anna von Stain zu Jettingen in 1728. After his elevation to Imperial Count at the Saxon court under August II and his successor August III, he held several offices until 1738. When he had to leave the court, he returned to his Polish estates. Emperor Franz I elevated Sulkowski to the rank of Imperial Prince in 1752.
